“A blend of action, drama, and cinematography! (sic),” wrote Superstar Mahesh Babu, unveiling the no-dialogue Glimpse of Sekhar Kammula-directed Kubera. The multi-lingual release stars Dhanush, Akkineni Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna.
Lately, the word ‘intriguing’ has been used way too routinely, but if there is one glimpse video that deserves the word, it is this. A real head-scratcher, it reveals nothing about the moral positions/motives of its three prime characters. What is Dhanush’s character like? Is he a maverick? What is Nagarjuna playing? Is his character morally ambivalent? We get to read nothing much. We can only make assumptions about the nail-biting content.
Director Kammula is reinventing himself after making Fidaa and Love Story. The latter was more serious than the former. And Kubera seems to be even more serious.
Also starring Jim Sarbh, the film is a drama co-written by Chaithanya Pingali. Produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd, the film’s music is by Devi Sri Prasad. Production Design is by Thota Tharani. Cinematography is by Niketh Bommi. Kubera is edited by Karthika Srinivas.
