In the bustling lanes of Hyderabad’s Krishna Nagar, only a handful of film aspirants can hope to survive and stay the course. Actor Kiran Abbavaram, now a success story, is determined to support the needy folks who have passion and talent but have no resources to maintain themselves in the city.
“When I was new to Krishna Nagar in Hyderabad, we were 50. We used to hang out at Ganapathi Complex and other places. Our aim was to get into films after doing short films. As days passed, the number shrunk to 20, 10 and eventually just two. The rest all gave up for want of opportunities and platforms to showcase their talents,” the actor said.
Kiran said that parental support is a given when youngsters migrate to Hyderabad in search of jobs in the software industry. But when the same guys want to make an attempt to get into films, parental support evaporates. “Nobody encourages middle-class and poor guys who have cinema dreams. I have seen so many such youngsters in my life. Now that I have made it in the industry, I want to do something for this class of aspirants. Having struggled a great deal in life, I want to support passionate, financially-constrained cinema aspirants – say, ten of them – every year for lodging, food and skill acquisition. If you are passionate and have no monetary means, I can fund your basic needs,” Kiran said.
Kiran awaits the release of Dilruba on March 14th. Its paid premieres will be held in the evening of 13th in the Telugu States.
