Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha warrior, is considered one of the greatest warrior kings in the history of India. A biographical war drama based on his life will now be mounted for the pan-Indian audience. Rishab Shetty of Kantara fame will be essaying the titular role.

The actor added that this isn’t just a film but more than that. “It’s a battle cry to honor a warrior who fought against all odds, challenged the might of the Mighty Mughal empire, and forged a legacy that can never be forgotten. Get ready for a Magnum Opus Action Drama, a cinematic experience unlike any other, as we unfold the untold story of Shivaji,” Rishab Shetty added.
Variety has reported that the production will “employ international technical talent and advanced visual effects to bring the story of the legendary warrior king to screen”. Sandeep Singh is going to direct it.
The film will hit the screens on January 21st, 2027.
