Manchu Vishnu today described Kannappa as his visiting card as an actor. “I faced hurdles and self-doubts. I faced a hate-filled campaign. Giving up was not a choice. So, I marched on,” Vishnu said, adding that the commercial success of his latest movie makes him emotional.
Two days before the release of Kannappa, Vishnu could clear all financial commitments. How was it possible when he hadn’t sold the movie on advance basis? “I staked all the assets in my name,” Vishnu revealed.
The film’s visual splendour was highlighted. “We had to sacrifice certain scenes because the VFX was not up to the mark. We didn’t want to compromise on the visual quality at any cost,” Vishnu said. On the occasion, the actor named some of his most favourite moments in the film. “Many are of the opinion that the film takes a drastic turn with the entry of Prabhas garu. His stardom is a big plus, but the actual turn happens with the scene where Kannappa’s father (played by Sarathkumar) stops him and says something. Their conversation is the real inflection point,” Vishnu said.
“I am glad that one of the greatest directors of our generation, RGV garu, has appreciated my movie,” he added.
Dr. Mohan Babu thanked his fans for embracing him over the decades. “I am indebted to you all. Right from Prabhas to other artists who have acted in Kannappa, I thank them all. I feel it was God’s will that we made this movie,” he said.
Mythri Movie Distributors’ Sashi observed that their screens are running to packed houses. “Previously, we witnessed this kind of houseful shows with Salaar, HanuMan and Pushpa 2. It’s again happening with Kannappa,” Sashi said.
