Personal And Family Details
Ravi Teja was born on 26 January 1968 to Raj Gopal Raju and Rajya Lakshmi in Jaggampeta, Andhra Pradesh, India. His father was a pharmacist and his mother was a homemaker. He is the eldest of three sons, the others being Bharath and Raghu, who are also actors.
His schooling went on at N.S.M. Public School, Vijayawada, graduated from Siddhartha Degree College from the same city. In 2002, Ravi Teja got married to Kalyani, and they have a daughter Mokshadha Bhupatiraju, and a son Mahadhan Bhupatiraju.
Initial Career
In 1988 he headed to Chennai to try his luck in movies. YVS Chowdary and Gunasekhar were his roommates. It would be a surprise to many to know that Ravi Teja acted in Vijayashanthi’s Karthavyam, which made her the Lady Superstar. He appeared in a couple of scenes in the movie. He continued playing supporting roles in films such as Allari Priyudu , Ninne Pelladatha among others.
Just like his titular role in one of his hit movies Dubai Seenu, he faced a lot of struggles to reach his present position. From portraying small characters as an assistant director working in television to an actor with a huge mass popularity, he played many versatile roles in his real life too.
Ravi Teja was offered to be assistant director for many Hindi and Telugu movies. It is the turning point of his life to join with director Vamsi as an assistant. It was Krishna Vamsi who recognised the acting talent in Ravi Teja and offered him a hero character in Sindhooram (1997). Ravi Teja began his professional career as a lead actor with Nee Kosam in 1999. The actor received his first break with Itlu Sravani Subramanyam in 2001 which was a commercial hit too. Thereafter, Ravi Teja appeared in many successful movies including Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru (2002), Idiot (2002), Khadgam (2002), Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (2003), Bhadra (2005).
In 2006, Ravi Teja hopped to superstardom with S.S. Rajamouli’s Vikramarkudu, a complete mass entertainer. The movie became a super hit and was remade in many other Indian languages. Hits like Dubai Seenu (2007), Krishna (2008), Kick (2009) and Mirapakay (2011) are to be specially mentioned in Ravi Teja’s career for bestowing him with instant stardom.
The movies were commercial successes and established Ravi Teja as an actor. His popularity grew with his roles in several hit films, such as Shambo Shiva Shambo (2010), Balupu (2013), Bengal Tiger (2015), Raja The Great (2017).

He won the Nandi Special Jury Award for his performance in the films Nee Kosam and Khadgam. He also won the state Nandi Award for best actor for his film Neninthe in 2008.
