Tragedy struck on the sets of Indian 2 on February 20th, when a heavy duty crane operating on set failed and came crashing down leading to a major accident. Three members from the crew of Indian 2 lost their lives in this unfortunate incident and nine other people were injured. Director of Indian 2 Shankar and acting leads Kamal Haasan and Kaajal Aggarwal escaped the tragedy by a whisker when they moved away from the spot of the accident four seconds earlier.

As per latest news reports Kamal Haasan announced a compensation of Rs. 1 Crore for the families of the deceased technicians who lost their lives in the accident. In addition to this, Lyca Productions, the production house behind Indian 2 announced a compensation of Rs. 2 Crores to the families of the deceased and the injured.

The tragic incident once again raised questions on the safety compliance in place while making a movie. Kamal Haasan strongly condemned the lack of safety protocols calling the accident of the sets of Indian 2 as shameful.

The police have raised cases on Lyca Productions, the crane owner and the crane operator. So far no arrests have been made.
