‘Avatar’ creator James Cameron discussing SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ at the 51st Saturn Awards presentation earlier this year was proof enough that India’s finest filmmaker had become unstoppable. “It is wonderful to see Indian cinema making a burst on the international scene, and I thought it was fantastic”, the Hollywood filmmaker said.
There was a time when Rajamouli was yet to be known as the Jakkanna of Telugu cinema. With the ‘Baahubali’ movies, he cemented his pan-Indian position. With ‘RRR’, his graph soared meteorically. The international reach of the movie, starring Global Star Ram Charan and ‘Devara’ sensation Jr NTR in lead roles, is a crowning achievement for Telugu cinema itself.

Rajamouli will next be making a truly international film. The Mahesh Babu-led movie will commence its shoot sometime in the early weeks of 2025. Its scale of production is kept under the wraps. But when we start hearing about the untitled project from the makers, each detail will be diligently analyzed by everyone – from fans to the film fraternity, from filmmakers across the world to cinephiles.
‘RRR’ made India proud on the global stage by bagging several awards, including the Golden Globes and Academy Awards. Later, it made a splash at the prestigious 69th National Awards for the year 2021. With the Mahesh Babu-starrer, Rajamouli is going to take it to the next level.
