The Government of India moved a step ahead in granting shooting permissions to moviemakers. The Ministry Of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) set up the desk of the Film Facilitation Office (FFO) to act as a single window clearance unit to grant film shootings.
The move is not only for domestic filmmakers but also for international filmmakers.
The move comes as a whiff of fresh air for filmmakers, who face a lot of problems to get permission to shoot their movies, mostly in protected areas like forests and historical monuments.
The Ministry of I&B mentioned in its press release about the need fa or strengthening India’s position as a global filming destination and also to promote the Indian economy. The Ministry added, filmmakers, from now onwards, can register their applications for shooting permits on the web portal of FFO, www.ffo.gov.in. The website functions as the one and only window for granting permission both for domestic and international filmmakers who want to shoot in India.
The filmmakers can apply directly or through the website for getting a permit to shoot in the areas required. The Government made it mandatory to go through the FFO to get clearance.
It is also notable, the Government of India already introduced the category of ‘best State Providing Conducive Facilities to Film Shooting’ as a part of the National Film Awards category.
It might be noted, the Government made taking permission from the FFO mandatory for every filmmaker for shooting anywhere in India henceforth.
