Today, May 11th ,2019 Pawan Kalyan’s biggest blockbuster which established the ‘Brand Pawan’, Gabbar Singh turns 7, since its release on the same day way back in 2012.
Pawan Kalyan turned into a brand with Gabbar Singh, directed by Harish Shankar. After Pawan Kalyan had his first career hit Khushi (2001,) he could not taste a roaring hit till Jalsa (2008.) However, the movie which truly rejuvenated his career was Gabbar Singh (2012.) The movie was released on May 11th, 2012, as an official remake of Dabangg (2010,) the blockbuster of Salman Khan.
Gabbar Singh was a movie which reinvented Pawan Kalyan’s career, as Hitler (1997,) did for Chiranjeevi. The music of Devi Sri Prasad in Gabbar Singh was popular and well received by the Power Star’s fans. Shruthi Haasan played the lead, while Rao Ramesh, Suhasini Maniratnam and Kota Srinivasa Rao supported the plot.
The icing on the cake was when Pawan Kalyan received a Filmfare Award as the Best Actor for Gabbar Singh for his role as the Robinhood like police officer. Pawan Kalyan’s dialogues like “Naako Thikkundi, Daniko Lekkundi” became buzzwords for legions of Pawan’s fans and gave rise to Pawansim, a term loosely denoting the diehard fans of Pawan Kalyan.
