Jr NTR’s debut movie, Ninnu Choodalani, was released on May 25, 2001. It went on the floors on November 16, 2000. That is, the versatile actor, who came to be lovingly called the Young Tiger, has been around for 24 years.
The film, directed by Late VR Prathap of Nagarjuna’s Nuvvu Vasthavani fame, was produced by Late Ramoji Rao, the media baron and founder of Ramoji Film City. Raveena Rajput, K Viswanath, and Kaikala Satyanarayana were seen in prominent roles in the romantic drama.
It is speculated that Jr NTR was paid just Rs 4 lakhs as remuneration for Ninnu Choodalani. Since he didn’t need the money, the dutiful son handed over the entire remuneration to his doting mother, Shalini.
From a salary of four lakhs for a leading role to the stage of a pan-Indian hero, Tarak has come a long way. Devara: Part 1 recently became a blockbuster. The super-talented actor, known for his hyper-energetic performances and dramatization in movies like Simhadri, Aadi, Rakhi and Temper, had even foreigners go gaga over his ‘Naatu Naatu’ dance-off in RRR. War 2, his films with Prashanth Neel, his rumoured project with Nelson Dhilipkumar, and Devara 2 are among the most-awaited movies.
