The careers of a host of directors have taken off in a big way in the last 12 months. We analyze the career trajectories of four directors who are going to be busy for at least the next five years.
1. Anil Ravipudi: With Sankranthiki Vasthunam becoming a Rs 200 Cr grosser, he is looking at a perpetual virtuous cycle. His next film will most likely be with Megastar Chiranjeevi. The filmmaker will also be making a series of movies with Victory Venkatesh, his comfort hero. We might see him collaborating again with Balakrishna, his Bhagavanth Kesari hero. The director is on his triple hat-trick. Last year, he rejected the offer to mount a Thalapathy Vijay movie because he didn’t want to handle a remake (of his own film with Balayya).
2. Venky Atluri: This young filmmaker will continue to be one of the most sought-after ones. In the coming three years, he will most likely do at least two films. One of them will feature a Tamil star hero and another one will feature a senior Telugu superstar. It is only a matter of time before he teams up with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna. Both these actors want to work with the director after the success of SIR and Lucky Baskhar.
3. Prasanth Varma: After HanuMan last year, this young director has been on a roll. He is going to be busy for the next few years handling movies under the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe.
4. Bobby Kolli: Waltair Veerayya and Daaku Maharaaj have become hits successively. The filmmaker is now being counted as a mass director. Unlike his colleagues like Venky Atluri and Anil Ravipudi, his forte lies in mounting action blocks.
