The festival offers a rare opportunity for film lovers to witness ANR’s versatility in landmark films such as Devadasu (1953), Missamma (1955), Mayabazar (1957), Prem Nagar (1971), Premabhishekam (1981), and his final film Manam (2014).
Presented in collaboration with NFDC-National Film Archive of India and PVR-Inox, the festival celebrates ANR’s legacy and contribution to Indian cinema. Director of Film Heritage Foundation, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, said, “After the success of retrospectives for Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar, we are proud to honor the legendary ANR with a Telugu film festival.”
Akkineni Nagarjuna, ANR’s son, expressed pride in his father’s lasting impact on Indian cinema and his pioneering role in establishing Annapurna Studios. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan also praised ANR’s legacy, noting his humility and influence.
NFDC will showcase seven of ANR’s timeless classics, restored in 4K, underscoring India’s commitment to preserving film heritage. The festival aims to bring Telugu cinema’s golden era back to the big screen and allow audiences to relive ANR’s immense talent.
