Telugu Filmanagar caught up with Nabha Natesh, for an exclusive interview, the actress talks about SBSB, the lockdown, Disco Raja and more. Check it out right here:

1) You starred in iSmart Shankar which became a superhit.  How did it feel after receiving so much love for your role in the movie?

iSmart Shankar was something very surprising, because the kind of praise the movie got, the movie itself was very surprising and shocking and came as like a huge amusement.  The kind of love and reception I got for my role which I played (Chandini) was lovely.  We knew the characters Shankar and Chandini were working wonderfully while we were shooting itself.  Puri sir in fact wrote a couple of extra scenes because he loved the chemistry, loved the sequences.  But, we didn’t know it would become so good, you know, it came out so well and I was super happy.  Even now people talk about it, I mean it’s just been a year, obviously they are stuck in the pandemic for about five months now.  Actually, I am thinking if it really has been one year because it feels like yesterday.

2)  Your proper Hyderabadi accent was loved by audiences.  How did it feel speaking the Telangana dialect on screen?  Did you have any difficulties?

Actually, the dialogues caught on with the people, like the warning dialogues or the dialogues where I say “mem Hyderabadi porilam,” “Dostana chesthe jaan istaam,” “Dushmani chesthe lepkapotam” and all that, so many catchy lines Pri sir wrote for me which people loved and it caught on.  They keep using it in memes and everything like that, it was too good and lovely.  Wherever I go, I am asked to say those dialogues, it feels so nice.  See Telugu is something that I have been getting used to now and with iSmart Shankar, Telangana and Telugu did not matter, as it was a little difficult for me so I had to mug it up.  But I had assistant directors helping me with the way it was spoken, the slang, because the body language comes with the way you speak.  If you see, I did not obviously dub for the role but, you see, it looks like I did dubbed for the role.  I was perfect because the dialogues were given much much earlier because as soon as I signed the film, I had all the lines, all the scenes so I could prepare for a long time.  So it was kind of easy and good.  I could just go and be myself because I knew all the lines.

3) Your last movie was Disco Raja, how was it working with Ravi Teja?

Working with Ravi sir was so much, what do you say? Initially it was a little bit weird because I am a fan of him and I have seen all his movies.  First time I saw him, I was a little starstruck and he (Ravi teja) kind of eased me into the phase and he just made everything easy.  We used to have lovely conversations and every time around him, there was so much positivity, so much energy, he brings only positivity.  He (Ravi Teja) just says everything, whatever, big deal, its all fine, it’s all cool,do your job and just chill.  I used to have a lot of conversations about food, like he loves food too. So we used to have a lot of conversations about food and places.  You know it was like talking to a friend and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him.

4) Could you elaborate on your role in Solo Brathuke So Better?  How is it working with Sai Dharam Tej?

I cannot elaborate on the role because we have not yet released anything on my character in the film yet.  But, I can promise you that it is going to be one of the most entertaining characters.  Tej’s and my sequences are really really entertaining and my character is going to be very very different and very much fun. I am actually looking forward to seeing myself on screen in SBSB and working with Tej was a different kind of ease.  SBSB is one movie where I have been so sofree in the head because the character is something which I so much enjoy and it comes so easy to me.  The set was like home, you can just be yourself, you don’t have to watch yourself and the director, the cameramen, the producers, Tej especially made my whole space so nice.  I have been wanting to go back to the sets, I have been messaging people saying I wanna come back, please shoot even though we finished almost everything. It was really good and lovely working with Tej.

5) What is the dream role you would like to play on screen?

I would like to do all sorts of variant roles.  I am from a theater background,I have been trained in theaters.  I have done characters of different tempos like loud, sober and subtle, everything I had done.  Ijust want to do a lot of roles and I just want to experiment and do something new with every movie.  But a dream role, I would probably want to play a warrior princess or something because it is quite interesting and I am a big action movie buff.  So I think I would love to do that.  It’s not the only dream role, I would love to do anything which comes to me now and interests me more.

6) If given a chance to act in a biopic, whose biopic would you like to play?

I really don’t know because I just started and it has been only a couple of films.  I will be really scared to play a biopic yet but yeah may be in the future I would consider playing it if somebody thinks I am capable of playing someone’s life story.

7) How has the lockdown been for you?  How did you keep yourself occupied?

Initially I was kind of okay, like the first two months were like a break, I took it like that because last year and this year I was shooting for two new movies so i couldn’t even go back home.  So it felt like that.  It was quite okay for me till last month because I have done engineering and all the semester breaks were like two or three months and I am used to staying at home and chilling.  But, now I feel like I wanna start working and start meeting people like everyone else.  I have been keeping myself occupied, I was in Bangalore initially for a couple of months and I did a lot of experimenting with food, I read, I watched a lot of stuff online, I worked out and spoke to people who I could not talk with in the past.  After that I came to my native place, which is Chikmagalur, so I have been at home doing gardening and it is a small town and we don’t have a lot of Corona cases here.  I went to my granny’s house which is closeby and it has been a long time since I met them.  The lockdown is peaceful here because I am in a remote area and you don’t have that much paranoia around and I have been trying to take some online classes.

8) Which actor would you like to work with in the future?

I want to work with everybody, something which I have learnt from my acting ethics that the more you work with better people, better actors, better technicians, you will learn.  You will become better at your craft, so I am looking forward to working with everyone.

9) One habit you developed during lockdown and would want to carry it on for the rest of your life.

Valuing people and valuing the freedom we have been given already and the freedom to stay free was just taken for granted.  So, I feel that everything I am going to do once this (Corona) is over is going to be more valued.  That is something I want to take forward.

We at Telugu Filmnagar cannot wait to see Nabha Natesh in Solo Brathuke So Better and many more movies.  Telugu Filmnagar wishes Nabha Natesh all the very best for her career and hopes to see her entertain the audiences in the future.
