“I play a beggar in Kuberaa,” Dhanush revealed today at a song launch event. The actor had done a lot of research for the unconventional role. “I did my homework. I followed my director’s instructions to understand the nuances of my character. He is a brilliant filmmaker. He made my life easy. I really enjoyed the challenge,” the Raayan actor said.
Dhanush said that he had weird experiences shooting in dump yards and stuff. “Every experience teaches you something new. I got to work with a brilliant, positive-minded team. I got to see another part of the world where comforts are not assured. Some of us stay in highly protected environments. I come from a humble background. Doing Kuberaa helped me reconnect with my roots. So, it was a nostalgic experience,” the actor said.
He praised his director. “Sekhar Kammula sir is a fantastic human being. You will not meet a clean-hearted person like him. I loved his energy during the first narration,” the versatile actor said.
Dhanush revealed that he and Rashmika Mandanna shot in a dump yard for six long hours. “Rashmika told me she couldn’t smell anything,” the SIR actor said. The film, co-starring Nagarjuna, hits the screens on June 20th.
