Brahma Anandam is produced by Swadharm Entertainment’s Rahul Yadav Nakka. The film opened at the box office on Thursday evening with early paid premieres.
Story:
Brahma Anandam (Raja Goutham), a theatre artist with dreams of taking the national stage by storm, has become a selfish person due to his orphaned existence. When his grandfather Ananda Ram Murthy (Brahmanandam) enters his life and offers him a large piece of land as a gift, he can’t believe his luck. If he wants to be worthy of this incredible gift, he must learn to put others before himself and follow his grandfather’s instructions to the letter. But is Ananda Ram Murthy telling him the truth?
Analysis:
Writer-director RVS Nikhil handles a fairly difficult subject. This film could have been made as a serious drama with complex situations. Since a film featuring Brahmi can’t be anything but entertaining, he keeps the mood light. Seriousness in the form of emotional dialogues and even a slap are reserved for the climax.
Brahmanandam‘s portrayal of the grandfather conveys a lifetime of love, loss, and warmth through a mere glance or a soft-spoken line. The weight of unspoken emotions inherent to the script comes alive through his character. Raja Goutham’s performance is compelling. It is good to see him share screen space with his iconic actor-father.
Vennela Kishore is fun to watch as his character is perennially frustrated with what it has to put through because of the two main characters. Priya Vadlamani as Tara, Brahma’s girlfriend, is good. Aishwarya Holakka, as Tanuja, is natural. Rajeev Kanakala, as a Sarpanch, gets a semi-comedic character. Sampath Raj, as 10th fail Manohar, gets a good role after a long time. Prabhakar, as Brahma’s Babai, has a cameo. Dayanand Reddy has a couple of scenes.
Sandilya Pisapati’s songs are emotionally resonant. Mitesh Parvathaneni’s cinematography is apt for the nature of the genre. Kranthi Priyam has done the art direction, while Praneeth Kumar is the editor.
Key Highlights:
1. A blend of situational comedy and slapstick humor is effective.
2. Brahmanandam’s character holds a surprise.
3. The coming-of-age nature of the climax has a pay-off.
4. No forced elements. The humour is also clean.
5. The film steers clear of exaggerated plot points and cliches.
Verdict:
Brahma Anandam has its heart in the right place. While staying true to its elderly characters, the film delivers youth-friendly comedy too.
