TFN presents a review of Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, a film produced by BVSN Prasad and released today in theatres.
Story:
In the heart of London, a young, aspiring racer named Rishi gets into trouble after he comes across an illegal immigrant named Tulasi.
He is also in love with Tara, a beauty he had encountered in Hyderabad. When Rishi becomes entangled in a heinous crime, he unwittingly crosses paths with a dangerous adversary.
Analysis:
Nikhil Siddhartha is in his strong territory. While the ‘Karthikeya 2’ actor effortlessly switches between timidity, innocence and vulnerability, Rukmini’s portrayal of the love interest is both natural and strong, making her character work. Divyansha of ‘Majili’ fame is good in the role of a damsel who runs into the hero during a crisis. Rukmini and Divyansha help this romantic crime thriller with their natural screen presence.
Ajay, who was recently seen in ‘Pottel’, is seen in a negative role. John Vijay (as a Don named Badri Narayana, who curiously has an ICU at his home!) gets more screen space in the second half. While the menacing antagonists are understated, they evoke dread in their rivals.
Harsha Chemudu is not there as a typical sidekick. Satya adds a touch of humor and heart to the film, his performance is funny. Nellore Sudarshan plays a petty thief.
The film’s visual language, courtesy of the talented Richard Prasad (cinematographer), is worthy of appreciation. Music Director Karthik’s compositions elevate the film’s emotional quotient, especially the romantic melody dedicated to the Tara-Rishi duo. The background score by Sunny MR adds a layer of tension to the action sequences and suspenseful moments. Navin Nooli’s editing keeps the pace of the film brisk but the back-and-forth narration could have been tighter.
Sri Nagendra Tangala’s production design is familiar. The action sequences, choreographed by Venkat, Kevin Smith, and Tidd James, are well executed. Vinoth Thanigasalam’s sound design is a plus.
Most of the story takes place in London. The staging is in tune with the modern sensibilities director Sudheer Varma is known for. The eventful plot is narrated in flashbacks; the revelations are not sudden but are built up in installments. The film takes a while to reveal its cards.
Verdict:
Appudo Ippudo Eppudo is a screenplay-driven romantic story with a crime element.
