Gandhi Tatha Chettu is described by its makers as the big-hearted film of the year. To be released in theatres soon, its trailer was recently shared digitally by Superstar Mahesh Babu. On Thursday, the core team of the movie interacted with the media. Director Sukumar, who is basking in the mind-blowing success of Pushpa 2: The Rule, was present. His teen daughter, Sukriti Veni, is the film’s protagonist.
Sukumar’s speech was not limited to the film and his expectations from it. He revealed that he never knew his daughter had the ability to act. The filmmaker suggested that he didn’t encourage director Padmavati Malladi when she wanted to cast Sukriti. He was thoroughly bowled over by her writing and narrational abilities.

Sukumar stated that, as far as he is concerned, artists have to be versatile. “I spend months taking auditions. On choosing artists for Rangasthalam, I spent eight months. For Pushpa, I spent nine months,” the acclaimed director said in the context of talking about the performances in Gandhi Tatha Chettu.
Sukumar mentioned in passing that his daughter sings well. When a journalist asked Sukriti to sing Sooseki from Pushpa 2, the child sang a line. Sukumar later added that he won’t mind it if his daughter were to choose acting as her career path in future. “Being a film industry person, I can’t think saying no to her,” the Nannaku Prematho and 1: Nenokkadine maker said.
Gandhi Tatha Chettu releases in theatres on January 24th.
