Based on the true events inspired from the incidents of 2008 Mumbai attacks, the film Major was made.  The film stars Adivi Sesh in the role of the martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan.  The film shows the heroics of Major Sandeep in the attacks.

The film Major was actually planned to be released on 11th February, 2022.  But due to COVID, the makers of the film postponed the release of the film just like many other biggies in Tollywood.  Now with the recent updates from different production houses of Telugu film industry about the release of their films after many discussions, all the Tollywood films booked the slots for the releases in Summer.  The film Major is too locked for a date in May.  The film is going to be released on 27th May, 2022.  The lead actor Adivi Sesh posted the same on his Twitter handle.  “This Summer will be Massive.  Major ka Promise hai yeh,” wrote Sesh.

The story of Major was written by Adivi Sesh.  Sashi Kiran Tikka directed the film.  Abburi Ravi penned the dialogues for the film.  The film was produced by actor Mahesh Babu under the banner of GMB Entertainments.  Anurag Reddy and Sarath Chandra also co-produced the film under the banner of A+S Productions.  Sony Pictures is presenting the film.  The film was shot simultaneously in both Telugu and Hindi.  The film is also dubbed in Malayalam.  Major is going to be released in all the three languages across India only in theaters.
