On this day, 20 years ago, the Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla starrer Kushi(2001) was released. Kushi was a super hit especially among the youth. Youth loved the swag and charisma of Pawan Kalyan as Siddhu. Bhumika played a strong minded and beautiful Madhu.
Kushi is a romantic movie about Siddhu and Madhu who meet as infants and then again as adults and fall in love. Siddhu and Madhu were loved by the audiences. You would be surprised to know that one of the most loved movies of Tollywood is actually a remake of the Tamil movie of the same name. S. J. Suryah directed the movie in both the languages. Kushi developed a cult following over the years. Every 1990s kid remembers watching this movie and being blown away by Pawan Kalyan and emulating him. Pawan Kalyan’s GAP hoodie in the movie is still one of the most fashionable and memorable looks of Tollywood.

Kushi was a movie where everything came together perfectly. The cast, the acting, the setting, the direction and the music. Kushi’s discography by Mani Sharma is one of the most iconic in Telugu cinema. All of the songs were chartbusters especially songs like Yeh Mera Jaha, Ammaye Sannaga and Adavari Matalaku.
