'8 Vasantalu' Ananthika Sanilkumar Steals the Spotlight

Ahead of the June 20th release of 8 Vasantalu, actress Ananthika Sanilkumar is grabbing eyeballs, especially after yesterday’s pre-release event where she showcased her multiple talents. A trained classical dancer, she also knows how to pull off Wing Chun moves. The 19-year-old actress also knows Kalaripayattu and plays Chenda, a traditional cylindrical percussion instrument originating from Kerala.

The makers of 8 Vasantalu looked for a young woman who knows both dancing and martial arts. “The only one such actress we could find anywhere in the country is Ananthika,” producer Y Ravi Shankar said. Known for the college campus comedy MAD, Ananthika also has a grounding in stage-acting, having played Parvathi, Sita, among others, at a young age.

In 8 Vasantalu, Ananthika’s character is named Shuddhi Ayodhya. Her multiple experiences from ages 17 to 25 is what the film is about.

The film co-stars Ravi Theja Duggirala, Hanu Reddy, and Kanna Pasunoori. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the layered, conversational romantic drama film has music by Hesham Abdul Wahab, production design by Aravind Mule, and editing by Shashank Mali. Vishwanath Reddy’s cinematography is expected to be a major asset. Action choreography is by Wing Chun Anji.
