Dongalunnaru Jaagratha Telugu Movie Review:
Dongalunnaru Jaagratha Story:
Raju (Sri Simha Koduri), a thief and a mechanic by profession, is very skillful at breaking into cars and robbing their stereos. On one such mission, he attempts theft in a customized SUV of Doctor Chakravarthi (Samuthirakani) and gets trapped in it. The doctor intentionally traps the thief and tortures him to death for one single mistake. The thief tries to escape death in every possible way in this game of survival. Why does the doctor trap the thief, and how does the thief escape this danger? This is the rest of the narrative of the film Dongalunnaru Jaagratha.
Simha perfectly justifies the title “one man show” for this survival film. He runs the entire film single-handedly in a limited space where he does many stunts physically and emits lots of emotions. The actor plays both the action and reaction himself, and his instant change of expression in some continuous scenes is truly appreciable. After doing a couple of experiments with Mathu Vadalara and Thellavarithe Guruvaram in the beginning of his career, Simha added one more valuable experimental asset to his filmography with Dongalunnaru Jaagratha.
Samuthirakani, as Doctor Chakravarthi, is a voice actor for most of the run time of the film. He is impressive in the very little screen time he gets.
Preethi Asrani as Neeraja, Simha’s wife, is okay in her small but important role.
Srikanth Iyengar and other actors are seen in small roles.
Satish Tripura selects a very interesting idea for this survival film. He played games with the screenplay, increasing the tension and time factors with respect to each other. All the struggles and solutions he gave to the lead character are very impressive. The space is limited, the conflict is intense, survival is difficult, the emotions are natural and intense, time is ticking, and tension is rising. All these elements are perfectly placed and presented to provide a thrill to the audience.
Kaala Bhairava’s music is a brilliant addition to the film. He maintained the suspense and thrill of the film with his background score.
Both the cinematography and editing of the film need to be appreciated. DOP Yeshwanth managed to produce different frames even though he had only limited space. Garry’s edit is a great move in keeping the crisp run time of 90 minutes for the film.
The producers of the film, Suresh Productions and Guru Films, are appreciated for their belief in these kinds of experimental thrillers.
Dongalunnaru Jaagratha is one such experimental film by a young team. Satish Tripura’s brilliant writing and Simha’s matured performance provide the audience a thrilling experience. The survival skills in the confined space will surely entertain you. Dongalunnaru Jaagratha is truly an appeciable attempt in the category of survival movies.
