After the release of Gaddalakonda Ganesh in 2019, the Mega Prince Varun Tej took a gap of 2 years and is now back with an intense sports drama Ghani. He plays the role of a boxer in the film. The film is written and directed by Kiran Korrapati and is produced by Allu Bobby under the banner of Allu Bobby Company and Renaissance pictures. The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Salee Manjrekar, Upendra, Suniel Shetty, Naveen Chandra and Tanikella Bharani. The music is composed by Thaman S. George C Williams is the cinematographer and Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor of the film.

The film was scheduled to release on 30th July, 2021. But the release date was moved with the pandemic in action and the film was rescheduled to 24th December, 2021. This time the film was moved to another date, considering the competition with the big films. Finally the makers announced the new release date of the film Ghani. The film is all set to release on 18th March, 2022.
