The Telugu literary and film world lost a legendary personality, Indraganti Srikanth Sharma, who enriched the world of Telugu literature with a lot of monumental works, on July 25th, 2019. He was 75 years old.
Indraganti Srikanth Sharma was the son of great literary giant Indraganti Hanumath Sastri and was initiated into writing poetry and verses early in life. Inspired by the noted Telugu writer Chalam, who revolutionized Telugu short stories, Srikanth Sharma took to writing a lot of short stories, apart from poetry.
Noted director Bapu invited Sharma to films for writing poetry. Sharma wrote lyrics for the Krishna-Sridevi starrer Krishnavatavaram (1982,) then for other movies like Nelavanka (1983,) Rao Gopala Rao (1984,) among others.
National Award winning director Indraganti Mohana Krishna is Srikanth Sharma’s son and it is an interesting fact Sharma wrote lyrics for Mohana Krishna’s movies Mayabazar, Anthaku Mundu Aa Tarvatha and Sammohanam.
Apart from movies, Srikantha Sharma is noted for his All India Radio stint in Vijayawada as an Assistant Editor of the light classical music section, for which he wrote a lot of songs.
The great man Indraganti Srikanth Sharma is survived by his equally illustrious wife, noted classical and light music singer, short story writer and novelist Janakibala and his two children, Mohana Krishna and a daughter.
